Chocolate Halva
INGREDIENTS
1 cup sunflower oil or butter
2 cups coarse semolina
1 tsp cinnamon
for the syrup
2 cups sugar
4 cups water
lemon zest
Juice of 1 lemon
1/3 cup chocolate chips
1/3 cup walnuts, chopped ( optional )
DIRECTIONS
In a small pot add sugar, water, lemon juice and bring to a boil for a couple of minutes.
In a large pot add the oil ,semolina and stir until golden.
Simmer for 5 min.and stir until the mixture starts to thicken and come away from the sides of the saucepan.
When you’ve achieved the right color, add the lemon zest and the cinnamon. Pour the syrup into the semolina.
Remove from heat and Keep stirring until all of the syrup is combined with the semolina and starts to thicken.
Add the chocolate chips and walnuts, mix and Pour Halva into your pan of choice ( I use a loaf pan ) and let cool before serving.
