Kara-age - Japanese style Fried Chicken

Serves 2

  1. chicken (300g)
  2. *garlic (1)
  3. *sake (tbsp ½)
  4. *soy sauce (tbsp 1)
  5. potato starch
  6. oil for frying

Preparations

Chop the chicken into about 3cm pieces and put them into a bowl.

Grate or slice garlic into small/thin pieces. Add all *ingredients into a bowl and mix together very well with your hands. Leave for at least 30 min to allow the chicken to soak in all flavour.

Before frying, cover each chicken piece with potato starch.

A deep frying pan or wok is best for frying. Heat the pan and add enough oil to cover all the chicken. Once hot, carefully add chicken one by one.

When the chicken has turned a nice golden-brown colour(about 5 to 10 min fry), rotate each piece to ensure even cooking. Once cooked, enjoy!
